This hue old ecclesiastical ruin stands in a meadow by the river, about two miles North-west of Llangollen. It was founded about the year 1200 as a house of Cistercians, dedicated to the Virgin Mary. It afterwards became crown property, and was at a later period granted by James I. to Lord Wotton. Some parts are in a good state of preservation, and the whole build??ing bears marks of very fine workmanship and noble architecture.
