Ceiling of Tewkesbury Abbey, Gloucestershire, c1955-c1980. A detailed view of the lierne vaulted ceiling in the nave of the abbey, which shows the shafts of the vault resting on large corbels, seen in the lower section of the image, and carved bosses on the intersections of the beams. The larger bosses in the ventre of the ceiling are carved into biblical scenes, and angelic figures, while some of the bosses nearer the triforium are carved into roses. On either side of the vault is the triforium, which has windows with pointed heads that rise above the rib of the vault. The nave has much of its Norman fabric still intact, but the vaulted ceiling dates to the 14th century.
