Lloque Yupanqui. 1863 illustration of the Inca emperor Lloque Yupanqui, who reigned from 1260 to his death in 1290. He was the third emperor to rule the Kingdom of Cuzco in what is modern-day Peru. The Incas were a civilisation that inhabited the Andean regions of northern South America. They ruled an extensive empire in the 15th and 16th centuries, which fell to the invading Spanish conquistadors.
