Buses used on the Sidcup route and owned by Thomas Tilling parked at Peckham Garage. These were the first petrol electric vehicles that Tillings put on the road. Tillings were a very sympathetic company towards their employees, and when motor buses begain to be introduced on a large scale, Tillings realised a lot of the horse bus drivers would not be able to cope with the controls of motor vehicles. In conjunction with the firm of Stevens of Maidstone, they developed petrol engines which had a dynamo which drove the bus. The controls were very simple and well within the capabilities of horse bus drivers who could continue in Tillings service.
