Betty in Mayfair, by J Hastings Turner, from his play The Lilies of the Field (Ambassadors Theatre, June 1923), with music by H Fraser-Simpson. First produced in Sunderland, October 1925 and later at the Adelphi Theatre, London, November 1925. Betty is wearing a crinoline because she wrongly thinks her man prefers it to modern dress. Touring to the Theatre Royal, Worthing, August 1926.
