The Bystander magazine passes comment on the various fancy dress costumes seen at the Artists' Fancy Dress ball at the Albert Hall in February 1911. Rather critically, they show three outfits in the top row (Miss D. Barker as Isabel in Measure for Measure, Mr and Mrs Burne as a Franz Hals picture and Mr Carter as a Pharoah) as 'well conceived'. The three in the bottom row (Mr Basil Watt as Walter Raleigh, Lady Constance Stewart-Richardson as a cupid and Captain Jameson as Kaiser Wilhelm II) are 'not well conceived' although frankly, I think the chap as the Kaiser has done a pretty good job.
