Bertrand Russell, 3rd Earl Russell (1872-1970), British philosopher and author -- Penralltgoch, near Ffestiniog, Gwynedd, North Wales, the house where Russell lived in the late 1940s and early 1950s. He described the 'celestial view' down the valley as being like 'an old apocalyptic engraving of Paradise.' It is a Grade II listed building because of its historic interest as an early 19th century village school.
