State Railway School - Railway Regiment of the Ministry of War No.17 (1940-1942) - Bulgaria. Under the Treaty of Neuilly-sur-Seine (1919), Bulgaria had to cover a number of military structures behind semi-civilian ones. The State Railway School was set up to train reservists for NCOs, engineering troops and railway personnel - allowing rapid movement of troops and military equipment. By decree of Tsar Boris III and a special law by the National Assembly, the State Railway School (and it's four-year training course) was established. Externally this appeared an average technical school, but the organizational structure was military - students wore uniforms and were under martial law.
