Reproduction in The Sphere of a painting of the Battle of Neuve Chapelle by Fortunino Matania which he exhibited at the Royal Academy in 1918. The picture is accompanied by a narrative describing the lengths Matania went to to create the image from visiting the battlefield to digging a trench in his garden at home. The Sphere entitles it, 'A War Picture at the Royal Academy which is an actual document' in order to underline its authenticity.
