Emmeline Pankhurst was returning from a lecture tour in America, aboard the White Star ocean liner, 'Majestic'. She was arrested, driven to Exeter Prison from Plymouth and imprisoned. She was released under the Cat and Mouse Act on 7th December then re-arrested on her return from Paris (visiting daughter Christabel) on 13th December.
