Suffrage Lancashire Cheshire Women Esther Roper. In 1903, Esther Roper (1868-1938) along with Eva Gore-Booth and others formed the Lancashire & Cheshire Women Textile and other workers Representation Committee. They aimed to support parliamentary candidates in favour of women's suffrage. Consisting mainly of working class women, the organisation is pictured here, as it set off to join the Deputation to the Prime Minister, 24th February 1909, in London. Banners displayed include Manchester & Salford Women's Trades & Labour Council and that of the Lancashire & Cheshire Women Textile & other workers Representation Committee (far right of picture) Captioned - 'Lancashire and Cheshire Delegates on the Women's Franchise deputation to the Prime Minister'
