This lonely grave in a field is quite unique on the Somme as it is the actual burial site of 3 soldiers, Capt Richard Heumann, CSM B Milles and Sgt A W Torrance of the 1/2nd London Batt. who were killed at this spot on Sept 10 1916 whilst sheltering in a shell hole in which they were subsequently buried. The bodies are still there and this is an official war grave site
