At the turn of the century motorised transport was making its presence felt in London's fire brigade, Seen here is Superintendent C S Egerton, outside Manchester Square fire station and the Divisional Headquarters, photographed in his self-propelled vehicle (built in 1900) with his hand on the tiller (for Egerton see also 11090440 to 11090445).
