A memorial card for Alderman Terence MacSwiney (Sinn Fein Lord Mayor of Cork) who died in Brixton Prison on Monday October 25th 1920 after a hunger strike lasting seventy-four days. Arrested in Cork on 12th August, a court-martial followed and MacSwiney was sentenced to two years imprisonment. He steadfastly refused food following his arrest and was transferred to Brixton Prison on 19th August.
