Bombardment of Fort Masnaah, Gulf of Oman, by two vessels of the Royal Navy, H.M.S. Rifleman and H.M.S. Philomel and the Hugh Rose, a vessel from the Bombay Marine service. This engagement took place on 27 March 1874. The fort belonged to Syud Tourkie, the Sultan of Muscat, but had been seized by a rebel chief Ibrahim bin Kais whose followers had plundered the goods of some British subjects at Masnaah.
