The procession arriving at Westminster Abbey with Nurse Edith Cavell's coffin covered with a Union Jack flag. Edith Cavell was executed during World War One, with the charge of assisting allied soldiers to escape. She worked for the Red Cross in a Belgium hospital where many of the Allied soldiers treated there managed to escape to Holland. In 1915 German authorities arrested Cavell and kept her in solitary confinement until she gave a false confession. Her execution received worldwide sympathetic media coverage.
