Whimbrel (Numenius phaeopus). Breeds on tundra, upland moors, northern bogs and mosses, also beside sea on shores of Norwegian fjords and on the Atlantic islands. Stops off on passage on mudflats, rocky shores but also to a large extent uses inland staging areas such as moorland-heath and fields. Winters along W. African coasts.
