'Prince Rupert's House, Beech Lane, Barbican', 1800. London home of the German Prince Rupert of the Rhine, Duke of Cumberland (1619-1682), a Cavalier cavalry commander during the English Civil War. He was also a scientist, sportsman, colonial governor and amateur artist.
