A 360-degree panoramic view from the European Southern Observatory on La Silla, Chile, in a partly cloudy night where high cirrus clouds form the 22-degree moon halo, a luminous ring, sometimes seen around the sun or the moon, caused by refraction by small ice particles high in the atmosphere. On the left is the ESO 3.6-m telescope (equipped wih HARPS exoplanet finder) and its smaller Coud矇 Auxiliary Telescope.
