The Great Salt Lake in Utah seen from the perspective of the International Space Station orbiting 222 nautical miles over North America in July, 2014. A 200mm focal length was used to capture the image. A sharp line across the lake's center is caused by the restriction in water flow from the railroad causeway. The colors of the lake are due to hypersalinity; the salinity of The Great Salt Lake ranges from 5 to 27%, depending on the lake's level.
