The Hobby Eberly Telescope at 9.2 M (360') is one of the largest telescopes in the world. Like a giant, flat honeycomb, it is made up of a number of 36' six-sided mirrors, and it is used solely for studying starlight by spectroscopy. This is a composite photo.
