Magnesium phosphate precipitate. This series shows a progression as magnesium chloride (MgCl2) is added to a test tube containing sodium phosphate (Na3PO4). Both solutions are 0.5 M concentration. Magnesium phosphate precipitate (Mg3(PO4)2) is formed as a result: MgCl2 + Na3PO4 -> Mg3(PO4)2 + NaCl. This is an example of a double displacement reaction.
