Southern Flounder, Paralichthys lethostigma, two juveniles photographed in laboratory of University of Texas Marine Science Institute (UTMSI), Port Aransas, Texas. These are juveniles, not larval fish (the larvae have metamorphosed). The smaller, lighter one is a 70-day-old albino, and is 35mm long. The larger, normally pigmented one, 90 days old and 43mm long, has a bulging stomach containing the remains of cohorts it has cannibalized, from within a crowded tank. Captured from Aransas Bay and studied by Dr. G. Joan Holt, marine biologist at UTMSI.
