Graphene. A magnetic ball-and-stick toy is used to illustrate a fragment of atomic structure of graphene, a one-atom thick planar layer of carbon atoms arranged in a honeycomb lattice. The 2010 Physics Nobel Prize was awarded to A. Geim and K. Novoselov for their pioneering work on graphene.
