Using a pin inoculator, USDA technician Ashaki Shropshire can simultaneously test 32 separate Bacillus thuringiensis isolates. This bacteria is used to control many types of moths, beetles, flies, and mosquitos without the use of pesticides. Some strains are more effective than others and this research is being done to isolate the most effective strains and determine why they are more effective.
