Computer generated map combining topographic and bathymetric data to provide details on the elevation of the land and the depth of the ocean at all points of the globe. Two scales are included: the top one for the land, the bottom one for the sea. Mountain ranges such as the Himalayas and the Andes are clearly visible pale areas. Submarine features such as oceanic ridges and trenches appear as very light blue and as pink regions, respectively. The data set upon which this map is based was compiled mainly from survey maps, and is wildly used to produce low-resolution models of the general circulation of the atmosphere and oceans.
