Recycling of concrete rubble into aggregate for construction and paving purposes not only creates a cost-effective resource out of waste, but it also reduces the need for quarrying new material and it prolongs the life of landfill sites by removing a bulky waste item. At this landfill site (Nudgee, near Brisbane, Australia), 100,000 tonnes of concrete rubble were usefully recycled over 18 months.
