A crustose (encrusted) lichen growing on puddingstone rock, northern New Jersey. Puddingstone is a conglomerate type of sedimentary rock consisting of various minerals and pebbles cemented together. This rock, from northern New Jersey is from the late Devonian Skunnemunk conglomerate formation.
