Subtropical vine forest on the Blackbutt Range escarpment, Queensland, Australia. Emerging from the undisturbed forest are hoop pines (Araucaria cunninghamii). Honeysuckle vine (Lonicera japonica, flowering) and common lantana (Lantana camara, bottom), rainforest weeds, have become established on the disturbed forest margins in the foreground. Lonicera grows over tree canopies on rainforest edges and can smother vegetation. Lantana can crowd out native species in the understory, preventing regrowth of the rainforest.
