Color enhanced phase microscopy of the beginning of the second cell division in arbacia punctulata. The second furrow has begun to form and the mitotic apparatus is visible. Several sperm can be seen adjacent to the developing embryo. This development is evident approximately eighty minutes after fertilization if the cells are maintained at 22 or 25 degrees centigrade.
