Color enhanced scanning electron micrograph of sour cherry (Prunus cerasus) pollen. The Montmorency century-old cultivar is by far the easiest to find on the market, providing spectacular bloom in very early spring, and an abundant crop of red-skinned, yellow-fleshed, pink-juiced fruit in July, outstanding for cooking and pie-making. A cherry tree grows about 7m tall. Sour cherries are in the same genus, Prunus, as peaches, plums, sweet cherries etc. Image width: 98.5 micrometers. Magnification: 1015x if the image is printed 10 cm wide.
