Transmission electron micrograph of glycogen in the liver of the Salamander. In amphibian liver, glycogen particles are so small and uniform in size that they might easily be mistaken for unit beta particles. In micrographs of higher magnification, however, they are found to be aggregates like the alpha particles of mammalian liver.
