A striking difference in nuclear size is illustrated in this micrograph of neighboring epithelial cells in tick, (Rhipicephalus appendiculatus), salivary gland. The nucleus of the interstitial epithelial cell at the lower right is diploid, while the larger nucleus of the glandular cell above is undoubtedly polyploid or polytene.
