Entitled: "Raiko Shitenno (Minamoto Yorimitsu) and the earth spider." Shows an interior view of room with Minamoto Yorimitsu and another man at a Go board as a demon crashes through the roof. Minamoto no Yorimitsu (948 - August 29, 1021) served the regents of the Fujiwara clan along with his brother Yorinobu, taking the violent measures the Fujiwara were themselves unable to take. He is one of the earliest Minamoto of historical note for his military exploits, and is known for quelling the bandits of Oeyama. Yorimitsu is featured in the legend of Tsuchigumo. Tsuchigumo is a historical Japanese derogatory term for renegade local clans, and also the name for a race of spider-like yokai in Japanese folklore. Woodcut by Kuninaga Utagawa, circa 1804-08.
