A print of the painting entitled: The Underground Railroad by Charles T. Webber. Levi Coffin (October 28, 1798 - September 16, 1877) was an American Quaker, abolitionist, and businessman. He was deeply involved in the Underground Railroad in Indiana and Ohio and his home is often called "Grand Central Station of the Underground Railroad". Thousands of slaves are reported to have passed through his care while escaping their masters. In this painting Levi Coffin, is shown wearing a top hat in background, his wife Catherine, helps elderly man, an unidentified woman leads the group with two children.
