The Passaic River is known for chronic flooding during periods of heavy rainfall, or snowmelt, especially in the area where the Passaic River joins the Pompton River, in Wayne, New Jersey. The two rivers form a sizeable flood plain, and regularly flood homes and businesses. There have been 10 floods since 1968. This view was taken during the flood of 1992.
