The view shows the amphitheater, in the Roman built city of Caesarea. Herod the Great built the completely planned city in 37-4 BCE, and dedicated it to Caesar Augustus, the Roman emperor. It is 70 miles northwest of Jerusalem, and 25 miles north of Tel Aviv. Today Caesarea is an open air archeological museum. Concerts are still held in the amphitheater, which is said to have excellent acoustics.
