Sultanate of Oman, excavation of Salut (excavator: University of Pisa, Italy). Salut was possibly the capital of an Empire which shows up in Sumerian and Accadian sources as Magan: in the 3rd and early 2nd millenia BC Magan thrived as entrepot for the trade between Mesopotamia and the Indus Valley.
