The Ahu Tongariki group of Moai (statues), one of which has a pukao (hat or topknot) on its head; Rapa Nui National Park, Easter Island. About 1000 of these megaliths, ranging from 3-12 meters in height and weighing up to 85 tons, were carved from volcanic rock by the islanders from 400-1500 AD.
