Panorama of almost the full length of Lake Powell, photographed by an astronaut aboard the International Space Station, on September 6, 2016. The ISS was north of the lake, so in this view south is at the top left. The Colorado River runs between Navajo Mountain (left) and the Kaiparowits Plateau. Much of this area is protected, either as part of the Glen Canyon National Recreation Area or the Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument. Also visible is the Rincon, an entrenched meander that was left behind when the river cut through its bank.
