Tyrannosaurus rex. Hell Creek Formation in Dawson County, Montana, US. Tyrannosaurus rex (the name translates to "King of the terrible lizards") was one of the largest and most fear-some dinosaur predators. It lived during the Mesozoic period some 65-75 million years ago. As a two-legged carnivore it could pursue its prey by running on powerful hindlegs. its jaws and teeth were adapted for meat-eating and could inflict terrible wounds. Tyrannosaurus rex reached 12 meters in length.
