Puget Sound Energy's Hopkins Ridge Wind Facility lies on 11,000 acres of farm and rangeland between Dayton and Pomeroy, in Columbia County, Washington, on land leased from private landowners and the State. The operation started up in November 2005 with 83 wind turbines capable of producing 150 megawatts of electricity. The $200 million power-generating facility makes PSE the only Northwest utility to solely own and operate a large wind farm. It has 83 wind turbines, all standing 335 feet high from the ground to the vertical tip of their 262-foot-diameter, three-blade rotors.
