An environmental worker cleans up the beach of Ediz Hook, Port Angeles, Washington. The beach was heavily oiled by the Alaska North Slope (ANS) crude oil spilled subsequent to the grounding of the Arco Anchorage, December 21, 1985. The reclamation effort lasted until April of the following year, and reduced crude oil concentrations from an average of 2,240 ppm (just after the spill) to 670 ppm.
