Amazon scarlet snake, Pseudoboa coronata. A beautifully colored serpent that is thought to be a coral snake mimic. Although rear-fanged, this snake almost never bites when captured and its venom is not thought to be dangerous to humans. The Amazon scarlet snake can be found from Colombia east to the Guianas and south to Bolivia and Brazil. Photo taken in the northern Peruvian Amazon (Loreto, Peru)
