Amazon tree boa, Corallus hortulanus. An arborial, medium size boa that reaches a length of 5 feet. When disturbed it can be exceedingly defensive, striking repeatedly. Like all boas, it is nonvenomous, but its long teeth can produce a nasty would. It is often abundant throughout the northern and eastern Amazon Basin. Photographed along the Orosa River, Loreto, Peru
