This marine polychaete of the genus Tomopteris is a mesopelagic life form, spending its entire life in the water column. These worms produce yellow bioluminescence, a less common color of bioluminescent light than other wildlife produce in blue or green. This individual was photographed in the Gulf of Mexico in 2006 and was captured in a trawl between the surface and 1000m depth.
