Pseudoscopelus sp., a great swallower of the family Chiasmodontidae, can eat fish as large as themselves or even larger. They have stomachs that can accommodate massive prey items. This fish has tiny photophores on its face that produce light (bioluminescence). This individual was captured in a trawl between 1000 and 1500 meters depth in the Gulf of Mexico, 2007.
