Froth from Spit Bug or Spittle Bug on the underside of a leaf, Costa Rica. Spit or Spittle bugs produce a frothy white "spit" that surrounds them and protects them from predators. It is generally the nymphs that make the spittle. While inside, the nymph sucks out juices from the plant for food.
