The Order of the Lion D'Or'. The House-order of the Golden Lion was founded in 1770 by Frederick II of Hesse-Kassel (1720-1785). The medallion features a golden lion in a blue background framed by the Latin inscription VIRTUTE ET FIDELITATE ('with Virtue and Fidelity'). The decoration is silver and red.
