The annual festival of the village goddess of Periyapalayam, Tamil Nadu State, India. Men, women and children in the performance of a vow dressed in leafy garments made of twigs of the sacred mangosa tree. The devotees pay a small fee for admission to the temple precincts and circle the shrine three or more times. From Customs of The World, published circa 1913.
